Acute Pain Management: The Chiropractor's Role
This course provides chiropractors with a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms, assessment, and management of acute pain within the neuromusculoskeletal system. Participants will explore how chiropractic intervention can modulate pain pathways, restore motion, and prevent the transition from acute to chronic pain. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based, non-pharmacological strategies that enhance functional recovery and patient education.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define acute pain and explain its physiological and clinical significance.
- Describe the neurophysiology of pain, including peripheral, spinal, and cortical mechanisms.
- Identify key red flags and differentiate between mechanical, inflammatory, and neuropathic pain presentations.
- Apply evidence-informed chiropractic strategies to manage acute pain safely and effectively.
- Educate patients on the healing process, pain misconceptions, and active self-management to prevent chronicity.
